The big food chain’s domination hasn’t reached the Congo yet. No need for a MacDonald or a Quick joint when one feels a little hungry but doesn’t want to cook. You will find fast-food made in Congo practically all over the place. Goat meat, grilled fish, kebabs, chicken, you have a wide choice and it’s not expensive.
Only yesterday evening, I enjoyed some excellent goat meat in a district where food is cheap, in the municipality of Barumbu. You might point out to me that the rules of hygiene are not always adhered to when this food is cooked, but let me tell you that hygiene is the least of our concerns in a country where people are dying of hunger every day.

Cedric,
We are a charity in UK raising funds & equipment for rangers in eastern DRC. We have a big event in London in August at which I want to serve true DRC food at a three course dinner. Ingredients would have to come from London. What might you suggest? Starter, main course & sweet.
Also, is there a wine / apperitif that is common in Congo? I have only had banana wine when in DRC. What would be a lavish Congolese dinner menu? I fully realise the situation in DRC (have visited yearly for 4 years now) but want to give people here a taste of Congo before a big auction raising money……
Thank you for your help.
Linda
That is very gross. I appritiate the effort but that is just plain nasty. no one wants to see a dude eating a BUG.
Too much hygiene brings it’s own pains, I think your countrys way is good too. In some countries they eat everything that moves, no matter what way it moves, it’s just colors of the world.
